Give Parents a Break!

When stress is taking charge, take a time out!

Whether it's a deployment, new baby, or personal challenges that are depriving you of being your best, this program is designed for you. Give yourself a break and enjoy a time out to recharge!! For non-deployment related circumstances, you must be referred.

The Air Force Aide Society sponsored "Give Parents a Break" programs is tentatively scheduled for the following dates for 2017:

  • 07 January
  • 10 February
  • 11 March
  • 08 April
  • 05 May - Cancelled
  • 10 June
  • 08 July
  • 11 August
  • 16 September
  • 13 October
  • 18 November
  • 02 December

*When held on a Saturday, the hours are from 8:30a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
If held on a Friday, the hours are from 6:15 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Program Eligibility

    Standard:
  • Deployed or TDY for 30 days or more or on a remote tour you can use GPAB for one month prior to and up to two months after return to station.
  • New baby in the family. Certificate is valid for all children until the baby is 6 months old.
    Special Circumstances:
  • Family crisis/challenge (examples: serious illness of a family member, death in the family, child with special needs, unique circumstances, single parents and hardships).

Who Can Refer?

You can obtain a certificate from any of the following individuals: Squadron Commanders, First Sergeants, Chaplains, Medical Professionals, Family Advocacy, Child Development Center, Youth Center, MFLC's, or A&FRC personnel. The Certificate is valid up to three months.

Child Care Providers

Child care is provided by the Child Development Center (CDC) and the Youth Center. You must bring an original certificate no later than NOON 10 days prior to the Give Parents a Break date along with shot records to register. Children ages 6 weeks to 5 years will attend the CDC, children 5 and in kindergarten to 12 will attend the Youth Center.
